Read Our Fraud Alert About Timeshare Resale Scams

Who Keeps Calling Me About My Timeshare?

It is time for dinner. A nice relaxing meal with my family. While enjoying the conversation and the food the phone rings. I know I am on the “Do Not Call” list so it must be someone I know.   As it turns out it is yet another call from a timeshare boiler room call center saying they have sold my timeshare. Something tells me this must be a scam. Who are these guys?

Recently the state of Florida began investigating over a dozen such companies. Lists were bought and sold to these timeshare telemarketers who repeatedly call timeshare owners purporting to already have their timeshare sold for them if they will just pay a hefty fee – usually over $1,000.

If it sounds too good to be true it usually is.  That’s why I always recommend using a timeshare broker/Realtor who has a code of ethics and legal requirements.

Call a timeshare Realtor today if you want some straight answers. Tell the other guys to take you off their phone list.

Here’s an open letter from Wayne Stroman that is a Warning about Timeshare Resale Scam Companies. Here’s an excerpt from that letter: “Sometimes owners get a phone call or a letter from someone claiming to have a buyer for their property. All they need is a sizable payment to cover closing costs – and they pressure you to pay immediately before the buyer gets away. Frequently these companies make a bundle, quickly close up their shops and move their business to another state or country to avoid prosecution.”
