Exchanging My Timeshare Is Not As Hard As I Thought

Exchange Your Timeshare and go Here Next Time!

We have all heard or experienced troubles with exchanging our timeshare for a different location. There are some tips here that will make your next timeshare exchange request with RCI or II (Interval International) go like you plan.

Advance Planning – Make your plans for your vacation as far in advance as possible. This gives you a great chance of getting the timeshare exchange you want from the largest possible pool of banked timeshare weeks with RCI or II.

Be Flexible – Be as flexible as you can when choosing your destinations and check in dates. For example, try not to choose only Maui as all three timeshare location choices. Mix it up. Pick other islands in Hawaii to maximize your shot at getting what you want.

Off Season – Large numbers of off season, or “shoulder season”, weeks waste away each year. You’d have a much better chance getting a timeshare exchange in an off season rather than a high season.

Trade Down – Consider trading your 2 bedroom unit for a 1 bedroom or studio unit. As long as it will accommodate your party, you’ll have a better chance of getting the timeshare exchange you want.

That’s the basics. I’d love to hear any success stories you have about great exchanges!

You are absolutely correct. Here are a few other things to consider. Your timeshare is only worth what it is. I own at Orange Lake and Silver Seas in Florida. I have never had any problems trading the Orange Lake unit, even at the last minute. On the other hand the Silver Seas Resort is smaller and older. I have had to be more flexible with the Silver Seas unit than with the Orange Lake unit. My suggestion is to buy a timeshare where you want to vacation most of the time, this will mean that others will most likely want to be there as well. You will not have problems with exchanges as long as you are not trying to get 5 star resorts with a 1 star trade. Be realistic and look for comparable resorts to the one you are trading and you will have far less troubles.
